Chestnut Hill Concerts Announces its 2024 Season at The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center

Four Friday Night Concerts of Chamber Music in August at  7:30 at The Kate


Chestnut Hill Concerts announces its 2024 season of chamber music concerts this August at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook. The prestigious series, the first year under Artistic Director Mihae Lee, is highly-regarded, not only for its programming, but also for the world-class musicians that we invite for these performances.


We open our series on August 2nd with a concert featuring the clarinet and clarinetist Pavel Vinnitsky. The concert features Beethoven's Clarinet Trio in B-Flat, Op. 11, Bartók's Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet and Piano, and Brahms' Piano Trio in C Major, Op. 87. Performers are: Pavel Vinnitsky, clarinet; Michelle Kim, violin; Wendy Sutter, cello; Randall Hodgkinson and Mihae Lee, piano.


The 2nd concert on August 9th is an all-French Impressionistic concert, featuring  Debussy's "Petite Suite for Piano 4-Hands," Ravel's Piano Trio in A Minor, and Fauré's Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 15. Performers are: Martin Beaver, violin; Brian Hong, viola; Mihai Marica, cello; Randall Hodgkinson and Mihae Lee, piano.


The August 16th concert features Ginastera's Impresiones de la Puna for Flute and String Quartet, Beethoven's String Trio in G Major, Op. 9, No. 1, and Dvořák's Piano Quartet in E-Flat Major, Op. 87. Performers are: Laura Gilbert, flute; Emilie-Anne Gendron and Todd Phillips, violin; Matthew Sinno, viola; Mihai Marica, cello; and Mihae Lee, piano.


Our final concert, on August 23rd, features Schumann's Märchenbilder for Viola and Piano, Op. 113, Leclair's Sonata for Two Violins in E Minor, Op. 3, No. 5, and Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34. Performers are: Steven Copes and Stephanie Zyzak, violin; Cong Wu, viola; Peter Wiley, cello; and Mihae Lee, piano.


The 2024 season of Chestnut Hill Concerts is made possible with support from the Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), a federal agency.


The concerts are Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate), 300 Main Street in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. Subscriptions are $140 for Orchestra seats and $120 for Balcony seats. Single tickets are $45 for orchestra seats and $40 for balcony seats. Kids and teens come free.
