Requirements:

  • Students must live in or attend school in one of the 24-designated Shoreline Arts Alliance towns. These are: Branford, Chester, Clinton, Cromwell, Deep River, Durham, East Haddam, East Hampton, East Haven, East Lyme, Essex, Guilford, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, Middlefield, Middletown, North Branford, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, Salem, Westbrook and must be in 11th or 12th grade (or equivalent if home schooled).
  • Winners and special recognition awardees must attend the Spring Showcase/Awards Ceremony rehearsal and performance. You will also be expected to write thank you notes to our sponsors and donors and to Shoreline Arts Alliance.

Media Requirements:

  •  You may also be asked to appear for a photo shoot and interview with local press and other media.
  • You are requested to share this honor with your high school principal, faculty, guidance counselors, private teacher (s), outside programs that you are involved in – i.e. student orchestras, community theatre, choruses, etc.
  • You are requested to include this honor in high school graduation programs, college applications, published bios, and other promotions.
  • You are requested to keep in touch with Shoreline Arts Alliance and update us on your accomplishments in your chosen art discipline. We want to share your news with our sponsors, donors and constituents.
  • Shoreline Arts Alliance will be announcing these awards to newspapers, state legislators, schools, and social media.
  • Video clips from auditions/performances/presentations will be uploaded to our web site and other sites for marketing and publicity purposes.

Visual Arts Portfolio Review – November 4, 2017                                        12PM-4PM        Acton Library, Old Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook

  • Students applying in Dance will have a single audition time. You will be taught a combination routine as an ensemble. Each applicant will then be asked to perform a solo piece of your choice. You will need to bring your music on a cell phone, iPad, laptop or CD.
  • Students applying in Instrumental Music, Vocal Music and Musical Theatre must audition with an accompanist and with audition pieces memorized. Some exceptions apply. See application attachment for performance guidelines in each category.
  • Students applying in Visual Arts must deliver and pick up portfolios to the review location on the date and time indicated on the application attachment. If you are unable to make the date and time of the review you may designate someone else to drop off and pick up your work on the review date. Or you may deliver your portfolio to Shoreline Arts Alliance office prior to the portfolio review.
  • Visual Arts applicants may request a portfolio critique with one of the judges when you drop off your portfolio. Critiques will take place upon returning to pick up your work. Critiques will only be offered to the student applicant, not to the designated drop-off/pick up person.
  • Students applying in Creative Writing must submit portfolios by the deadline indicated on the application attachment. Portfolios must be postmarked or hand delivered by the deadline date. Judges will provide a written critique to Shoreline Arts Alliance which will then be emailed to the student.

 

Awards and Reception
